Performance Editor, Media Partnerships
The Opportunity
Pillar4 Media is seeking a Performance Editor to join its fast-growing team.
As a member of the Media Partnerships Team, you’ll work closely with senior leadership and other team members to optimize, write, and edit longform editorial reviews and round-ups of sleep products.

What You'll Be Doing
Reporting to the Director of Content, the Performance Editor will:
- Collaborate closely with the SEO team to optimize, write, and edit in-depth reviews for mattresses, pillows, and other bedding/sleep products. The Editor will write and/or edit new and updated pieces.
- Own the optimizations lifecycle of live content, including consistently updating pages to drive ranking on key SERPs
- Work in concert with the Senior Editor, SEO team, and Revenue Analyst team to develop and execute content strategy
- May review mattress, pillow, and sleep products. This will require you to convey all the ins and outs of mattress and sleep products in a voice that’s captivating, knowledgeable, and fun. Keeping up on the latest models and trends in the sleep space is a key part of this role.
- Align content closely to the brand voice, style guidelines, and editorial parameters of various lifestyle publications
- Uphold our high standards for editorial excellence. Ensure that all content is authoritative, comprehensive, and aligns with Mattress Advisor’s editorial style guide. In addition, ensure all content adheres to the highest SEO and editorial standards.
- Complete final formatting and copy edits for all reviews and publish in a CMS platform
- A deep background in and passion for product writing. You don’t need to be a sleep expert by any means, but experience in product writing is a must. We want to see that you can analyze a product from every angle and communicate your findings to an audience in a fun, engaging, and knowledgeable way.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. You maintain a methodical process and high standard of excellence in your work while balancing multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines.
- A crackerjack personality to match your amazing writing and editing skills. We are looking for a teammate whose voice shines through, builds trust with our audience, and influences action.
- Strong communication skills. You will build relationships with external stakeholders, manage staff writers and freelancers, report up to internal stakeholders and foster strong alignment with your team. This all requires clear, direct communication and follow-through.
- Ownership mentality. You treat each content piece like it is your own and stand behind every word. You are comfortable putting your head down and producing excellent work without constant supervision.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, english, or related field preferred
- 1-3 years of digital editing or content production experience (experience in SEO-focused content preferred)
- 3+ years of product writing experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an eye toward SEO optimization
- Experience working in common CMS platforms like WordPress is preferred
- Drive to quickly gain expertise on a subject matter that may be foreign to you; a positive, “get it done” attitude
- Familiarity working in a challenging, fast-paced environment
